The other weekend Mr W and myself went for a day in Bath … now I haven’t been to Bath since I was on a school trip .. which was last century (and some) !!! .. I’d obviously seen how beautiful the city was from instagram posts, magazines and TV programs, but until I was there I really didn’t appreciate how beautiful it really was.
Our day trip was a fact finding expedition, you see Mr W is in the spring entering the “Cotswold 100” .. a 100 mile run over 4 days, he did at the time of booking to do this ask if I wanted to join him .. I smiled sweetly and said “oh I would love to, but unfortunately I am unable as I am washing my hair that weekend” .. or words to that effect.

Our first stop was Bath Abbey … This is where Mr W will finish his epic run .. I have to be honest I didn’t realise that it was pretty much in the centre of town .. or that the shops had been built around it … it really didn’t disappoint .. near to the Abbey was a lovely coffee shop .. and of course a day trip isn’t actually a day trip unless to have a coffee (or tea) from a pretty cafe.
After warming up over the tea & coffee (it was a beautiful blue sky day .. but utterly freezing) we went for a wander around, I obviously knew there was a Jo Malone & Bobbi Brown in Bath, so it wasn’t much of a surprise to Mr W when we happened to stumble upon them .. I must say that Mr W is so patient with me especially when it comes to shopping and knowing my likes and loves.
Whilst I smelt the entire Jo Malone shop Mr W went for a wander of his own, only to come back to find me making an appointment to see them about a potential wedding fragrance for myself and candles for the reception .. he did breathe a huge sigh of relief when I told him I’d be returning on the day he finishes his epic run .. so he wouldn’t be there. I would like a special perfume that I will always associate with my wedding day.
We had lunch at a little Cornish Pasty cafe .. it was delish .. and warmed us up nicely .. ready for our wandering part II … I love seeing a flower stalls out with all the colours of spring (we only have 1 florist in Ledbury and its only very small) … so of course photos had to be taken .. and flowers appreciated.
It was soon time to head home, we decided to take the scenic route back … we stumbled across Westonbirt Arboretum, which looked amazing, we stopped and had a quick look around the area, and of course took a few photos … Mr W gaining experience as an instahusband … he was relieved that it was so blustery & cold that I didn’t request too many photos!! .. We are definitely heading back there on a warmer spring day ..

We had such a lovely day and found Bath such a beautiful city that we’ve now booked to stay overnight on the last day of Mr W’s epic run .. so that we can explore / eat / shop more … perfect.
If you can recommend more shops / sites to visit whilst i’m waiting for Mr W please let me know.
