Following on from my sitting room revamp I thought it was time that I did that same for our bedroom .. although this time no walls were painted .. instead I painted my chest of drawers, I have had this chest of drawers, lets call her Cinderella because she does a fabulous job of storing my clothes and has done for fair few years, she is a very handy piece of furniture, but I knew she could be so much more, so after long consideration, I decided it was now in fact time to make her look gorgeous, Cinderella was going to the ball .. and staying there (in this story I’m the glamorous fairy godmother!)
For me the only way forward was PINK, I knew she could carry it off, she has the figure for it, so off I went in search of the right kind of pink, I didn’t want too brash, but something that would give that wow factor and of course compliment our bedroom. I found the perfect coral pink .. so Cinderella had her colour, and with this particular chalk paint there is really no need to primer or undercoat your piece of furniture (which is always a bonus).
Of course as with the sitting room, changing Cinderella into something with a lot more “WOW” factor also changed the feel of our bedroom .. so with screwdriver in hand I got about removing shelves, changing where shelves were, and generally having a good old sort out a clear out .. I think I should probably watch the Marie Kondo programme too & really get the “sorting” bug.
Simply by taking out a few items of furniture and shelves that weren’t really needed, moving Cinderella to her new position & changing where the mirror is, have made a huge difference to feel and size of the room, it certainly feels a lot fresher and brighter. I also have a lot more room to prance around in front of the mirror .. which if you like that sort of thing is brilliant (Im sure you’ve already guessed I do!)
I also had a tidy up of the corner of our bedroom between the wardrobe and the wall, where I have a small desk (& small mirror) and keep all my makeup, perfumes & jewels. I asked Mr W to cut some nice wood for me so that I could screw in hooks in order to hang my necklaces (he used old oak floorboards) .. & we used the “picture hanging strips” to attach it to the wardrobe & it works brilliantly!
I also added a couple of pictures, the occasional trinket dish, a bed throw, of course the odd plant for good measure .. and the always necessary candle to make the room smell gorgeous.
Once again a reasonably small change that has made a huge difference to the feel & look of our bedroom, and now Cinderella is looking as she should, I feel my work as her glamorous fairy godmother is done.
I’m now off for a quick prance around in front of the mirror trying on shoes & clothes as there is so much more space .. you know where to find me!
