In a car park in early in February in-between storms Ciara and Dennis and on an exceptionally beautiful blue sky (very cold) day, dressed in thankfully the appropriate gear of some very stylish but practical wellies, jumpers & raincoat (you know what british weather is like) I met up with the gorgeous gang from Joules, my fabulous friend Sophie (who just happens to be a super Joules fan too) also came with me .. we met there to do something that we had never done before .. and that was plant trees.
The purpose of this day was to celebrate the coming together of Joules and The Woodland Trust .. with Joules pledging to plant 250,000 by 2022. But before we could start digging we had a quick brief on the correct way to plant the trees .. and also the type of trees we would be planting .. it really was fabulous to see so many people there all eager to start (what we soon discovered) to get slightly muddy.
So armed with spades and sacks of saplings we headed to designated field, thank goodness for the fabulous Joules wellies .. without which we would not have been able to walk far at all … a few days before we arrived storm Ciara was doing her bit .. luckily as I said the day for us was dry .. but the mud was most definitely muddy .. with a bit more mud thrown in .. !!!
The scenery however was utterly stunning .. and we felt so lucky being out in the fresh air .. doing something so totally different from our day to day jobs and lives .. making a difference to the future of our planet. 
So armed with all the tree planting knowledge it was time to start planting ….
I can honestly say that by lunchtime we were frozen and covered in mud, but I can also say I hadn’t had so much fun in a very long time .. everyone was chatting away and laughing .. the atmosphere was truly & utterly brilliant. At lunch we headed back to eat some utterly delicious food and slowly thaw out.
What an amazing day .. with smiles all around .. and one which we will never forget.
