Christmas is fast approaching .. though I’m sure last time I checked there was still six months to go .. but now suddenly there are only a few weeks left! Its time to start thinking about what to get your loved ones and perhaps yourself (as a treat for buying everyone else’s).
I love Christmas shopping .. ok I’ll rephrase that “I love shopping”, and I’m very lucky that I live in a town that is full of independent shops which are have beautiful items / smaller brands / something a little bit different .. something that you don’t get when shopping in a huge retail park.
And to put a golden star on top of what I’ve already said, The Guardian has named my home town Ledbury, Herefordshire one the “10 Best Christmas Shopping Cities in Europe” (even though we are not a city … not even close!)
So to add their suggestions here are some of my favourite shops ….
Butler & Sweatman who have two shops .. one selling the likes of Emma Bridgewater / Allessi / Cath Kidston and the other selling all things wicker / candles / home & interior decor
Issacs Clothing – Selling amonst others Seasalt clothing
Monkleys Furniture – polish pottery, bags, wooden children’s toys & beautiful furniture
Tinsmiths – Fabric, home furnishings, prints
Hus & Hem – Scandinavian goodies galore
View – White Stuff, French Connection, Vera Mode, Great Plains among a few ..
Tusk Collection – A new and gorgeous shop .. selling the likes of Plum & Ashby, clothes, bags, pottery and lots more
Ceci Paolo – clothing, kitchen, delicatessens & my favourite cafe “Cafe 21”
These are to name a few .. there are plenty more in the High Street.
Of course you shouldn’t only consider visiting Ledbury for Christmas, any time of the year is always a good time to visit .. it really is a beautiful & historic town with lots of walks around the area and of course some rather lovely restaurants and pubs.
