So if you follow me on insta you’ll know that i have been lucky enough to visit our beautiful capital twice recently (I hadn’t been since 2011 … shocking I know!) .. the first visit was in between Christmas and New Year and I went with Mr W, we had arranged the trip months before going … the trip was basically for me to visit Liberty .. not for the spend factor but purely to wander around the amazing building looking at all the beautiful items and of course more importantly taking photos. There were other destinations on my list but Liberty was the ONE.
But unbeknownst to me other members of my family were making plans … ones that would only be revealed on Christmas Day!
Christmas Day arrived and to my shock and sheer delight Phoebe (with help from Mr W) had booked tickets for me (& Mr W) to see Mama Mia at the Novello Theatre in London .. on the night we were there! When Phoebe told me that this was my gift from her I burst into tears of utter shock, happiness and love.
Once we arrived in London we headed straight for that beautiful black & white building .. and it did not disappoint one bit .. I was like a kid in a sweet shop .. Mr W was just following me around as I darted from one department to another .. from one floor to another (he deserved a medal) .. once I’d done all the photos I wanted to do (though can you really ever have enough!?), although one of the shots I was after I unfortunately didn’t get .. the flowers at the front of Liberty which I have seen on so many insta photos were not there .. I can only assume it was because of the time of year we came, but I didn’t that dampen my spirits … oh no .. now it was time to walk around Oxford Street and Regent Street .. Mr W was lucky enough to be taken to HUNTER, Jo Malone, And Other Stories (to name a few) … I was in heaven .. Mr W .. probably wouldn’t describe it as that!
We headed back to the hotel to freshen up before hailing a taxi to take us to the theatre .. I was so excited .. once we’d arrived in Aldwych we wandered around just taking in the bright lights, different shows & restaurants .. it was wonderful & bustling, and I loved it.
The theatre itself was beautiful .. I was so pleased I’d dressed up for the occasion (any excuse really) … before we were seated we had a glass of fizz …. then it was SHOWTIME .. all I am going to say is … if you like ABBA and the film Mama Mia .. you wont be disappointed … I was up on my feet dancing away at the end singing my heart out .. Mr W who is slightly more reserved … was not!
Once Mama Mia had finished we headed back to our hotel to have a drink (or two). Then the next day it all too soon time to come home. I’d had a fantastic time .. ideas were were discussed for a return and longer visit in the summer to go and see another musical .. Lion King perhaps and of course another visit to Liberty .. it would be rude if i didn’t.
I had such a brilliant time .. the icing on the cake was the surprise from Phoebe a gift that was absolutely and utterly amazing .. one that I will never forget.
Following in the tradition of good sequels .. “London – A Tale of Two Trips – Part Two” will be released soon .. keep your eye peeled … 🙂
