I love styling .. faffing .. creating pretty scenes .. the whole process of making something look pretty and pleasing to the eye, where you know that care & love has been taken to create it, somewhere that not only I can enjoy but also my family and friends … the gorgeous girls from TUSK Collection also know this & asked if I would like to use some of their items (as well as some of my own items that I have previously bought from them) to style a summer table alfresco of course.
We don’t have a big outside table, so I got Mr W to help move our dining table outside .. our table is again quite small but I bought a large piece of MDF the other year to place on top of the table in order to make it bigger .. and it works a treat .. its so solid it really doesn’t move, we then painted it white & put clear varnish on it to save it from any damage.
I used a white table cloth to soften the look of the table, and then the fun began .. I knew I wanted lots of flowers around the table in a variety of different vases as for the me they bring so much colour.
Then there is the fun of setting the table, building it up with plates, napkins, nibble bowls, hurricane lanterns, perhaps a throw just in case anyone feels chilly ..
I used different height water glasses for everyone which are are in a gorgeous bright blue along with of course a wine glass .. just in case you fancied a lunchtime tipple.
I even for the first time in many years made homemade quiche (including the pastry) and soda bread (the easiest bread ever) … I have to say everyone was impressed … I had forgotten how much I enjoyed making these simple meals.
Of course after a long leisurely lunch comes the slow coffee … something that should never be rushed … certainly when outside enjoying the sunshine .. of course a Monday morning is completely different when it comes to coffee!!
I can honestly say I had the best time not only styling my lunch with all the beautiful pieces from TUSK but also eating and taking time to relax and enjoy a slower style weekend.
