I have often dreamed of having an office space, it didn’t have to be in a room of its own, just somewhere an area .. a small space where I could sit and be creative .. or just scroll the web and my fave online tabs (which are always open!). I then had an opportunity to start my own oh so tiny business (which I wrote a blog post about) Blooming Niki .. the business so the need for a place to keep all my essentials like notepads, diary, project planner and the odd flower vase was for me quite important, instead of keeping it on the dining table and having to clear it every time it was dinner or more importantly when I needed to take a flatlay photo!!!

We have a reasonably sized sitting room/dinning room .. but over the years I have collected a good amount of furniture, so space is very limited .. but I didn’t let that stop me .. there is always a way to change a room around .. so I started looking online and the ever faithful insta & Pintrest for office solutions and ideas, after all I only needed a small amount of space … it was during one of many times searching that I had my lightbulb moment … we already had a small desk .. it was upstairs in Harry’s room generally covered in teenage how shall I put it … “stuff” which would have been on the floor if the desk had not been there (I love him to pieces ..but the mess .. the mess!!!! perhaps that could be another blog for another day!) .. I think he only ever used the desk as a desk a couple of times, where I wanted to put the desk was a (very lovely) book shelf and a similar size to the desk .. so without any warning off I trotted to remove said stuff and swap desk for bookshelf .. which in fact actually works better for Harry as the “stuff” has a lot more room to multiply!

My desk area was sorted, now I need to add a few pieces in order for this small area to become the official Blooming Niki Hub, firstly of course & I’d say rather importantly somewhere to sit as my knees are too old for kneeling nowadays! I found the perfect one and with added storage, we are on to a winner here. I also thought some shelving would look good and also of course be handy, I could put my other essentials on it .. you know candles, inspirational quotes and a nice selection of books or notebooks .. the things that make my smile and give me a happy and warm feeling.

Once I had received the larger items, of course I needed a little more stationery and just general nice bits and pieces to make it feel more like me .. I think you may have already guessed that I am not a natural minimalist .. and for these items I knew where to go, my fabulous friends at TUSK Collection has the same sort of obsession about stationery as I do .. it was time to fill my boots! I also bought a couple of seagrass baskets which I use as storage for books or magazines and they have the added value of looking really rather lovely.

I am so so happy with my workspace … no more will my be essentials (aka stuff) clutter the dining table, we are free to eat dinner from there at any time of the day, unless of course I have a flatlay or three to do! Joking aside though it really is somewhere I feel I am able to be creative, somewhere I can sit quietly without getting in anybody’s way, to think about and write my blogs which fill me with such joy, to have my inspirational quotes around me that encourage & inspire me where I can dream wildly and somewhere I can bloom & dream wildly.
